As I sit here, goofing off while working on projects, and taking advantage of the free wi-fi at
American River College, I have to reflect on what the Lord is showing me at the Sacramento-Area colleges. Having attended six of the eight public colleges over the last fourteen years (and earning four degrees), I have to wonder, why has He giving me the heart for these colleges?
I came to faith in 1999 through a Campus Ministry at
UC Davis. I not only fell in love with the Word, but it challenged me to think critically about the Bible and think logically on how to apply it. Most of all, I used this particular campus as a place of prayer and reflection, using the arboretum as its backdrop. As a student, I even wrote prayer journals on the rooftops of various buildings and go on Jehrico-style prayers every Friday at the arboretum.
After nine years, I still return to UCD on occasion, albeit for a shorter periods of time. However, I still reflect on how my faith in Christ began to grow and the challenges that I had trying to trust in Him. I find that the spiritual journey for me began by simply seeking out the meaning of life, as what most young adults do. I am glad that I found the answer in Jesus Christ.
